WUOC organized by University of Alicante ends with great results for Spanish team, which leaves with two bronze medals, both in women category, in Middle Distance and Relay events.
Alicia Gil (UA Student) won two bronze medals in Relay Event together with her colleagues in this race, Ona Rafols Perramon and Anna Serrallonga Arqués. Serrallonga also won the bronze medal in Middle Distance events (individual race).
About a half thousand people have participated in this Championship, among competitors, delegates and organizers who come from 27 countries all over the world: Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Russia, Belarus.
Sweden and Switzerland teams have been the winners with the greater number of medals in the different categories of Event.
Last Friday, WUOC finished with the celebration of an enthusiastic Closing Act in “Paraninfo” (University of Alicante). Culture vice-rector chaired the act together with the FISU representative Adrián Gagea, who passed the baton Jindrich Sick, the President of the following Organizing Committee that will be held in Czech Republik (2014)
Carles Cortés affirmed in his speech that “through the promotion of sport, the University acquires a decisive role in humane development processes by putting our strategies into practice in order to build a fairer and participative society. The vice-rector wanted to thank the behavior, effort and a great desire for self-improvement and companionship.
Orienteering Sport
Orienteering Sport has the aim of finding a determined points in a specific terrain, with a map and a compass as unique tools. Generally, it combines cross country races, although there are other orienteering disciplines. The race is single and timed and the participants must run in the appropriate order to a different control points marked in map, which is provided at start area.
The competitors start the race by time intervals and each one takes her/his own route in order to go through the controls by using different navigation methods.

With accreditation begins the work of the Organization of the 18th. The University orientation World Championships.

Accreditation will take place at the Event Center on Sunday, July 1 from 9.00 h to 20.00 h

Location and timetable
We will provide emergency ambulance service in case of any serious incident after hours.
In such case it provides a 24-hour service by calling 670 438 911 and that’s the reason why we need to request insurance company and insurance policy number hired by each country. Emergency ambulance service will need all their dates.
He has published the relevant technical information, maps and prohibited areas.
If any team delegations would like some extra days they should inform the Organizing Committee and filling in travel shedule entrie form.
The OC offers accommodation in the same official hotels of the Championship which is 60€ per person and day. It includes pick up at the airport or train station and meals in hotels.
For all those interested in attending as spectator at the World University Orienteering Championship, the Organizing Committee offers a special price of accommodation. All information is available on the website of the 2012 WUOC
The Organizing Committee has received 24 Q1 applications from 31 countries.
CO requests all countries that repair the situation as soon as possible and asked to do through of the application online FISU.
