The #BeActiveAtHome campaign, launched by the European Commission, will hold the #BeActive Hour next Saturday 30 May at 5 p.m. The event aims to highlight the importance of physical activty and sports for our physical and mental health over the past few months, marked by the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organised by Europactive and UKactive, the event will bring together citizens from all over Europe who are engaged in sporting activities and wish to share their experience on social media under the #BeActive hashtag.
Given the current state of emergency and the obligation to respect the lockdown, we have launched the #UAEsportOnline portal, intended to promote an active and positive attitude at home through healthy sport. To that end, UA Esport will provide and share resources and initiatives through our teams, projects and sporting programmes, with a focus on healthy exercise and physical activity at home, active breaks while working from home or studying, games and activities for the whole family, and supportive and training actions for athletes.

The University of Alicante started its Healthy Ageing strategy last October, in order to share all the teaching, research and outreach work carried out by the institution to address the major social challenge of population ageing.
These guidelines are based on the following principles: caution, gradual intensity, volume and frequency, hydration, pre- and post-training session exercises and compliance with health regulations. This is needed in order to avoid the first problems detected, in relation to sports and exercising, after 50 days of lockdown.
The National Sports Council and the Physical and Sports Education Council offer a set of recommendations for safely exercising on the street.

The University of Alicante Food and Nutrition Centre (ALINUA) and the Office of the Vice President for Social Responsibility, Inclusion and Gender Equality aim to provide accurate information on healthy eating during the COVID-19 crisis, as healthy eating habits help your immune system work properly. For this reason, they have issued information leaflets with tips for the lockdown period, targeted at the population at large and those in at-risk groups (as defined by the Spanish Ministry of Health).

The University of Alicante has just launched a social care emergency volunteering scheme to recruit university members to cover the specific needs reported by the regional government and other authorities requiring people for specific tasks, as agreed by the UA Governing Council, to contribute to relieve the effects of the current health emergency
