International Sports Day 2017

ACTIVITY PROGRAMME - 6 April

9.30 a.m. Day's presentation and openingPoster 2017

Place: Aerobic room. UA Sports Centre.

Presentation by authorities.

10 a.m. Lectures/talks related to adapted and inclusive sport and the role that sports play in our society, gave by people of recognized standing in this field

Place: Aerobic room. UA Sports Centre.

Daniel Andújar Ponce. FER Sportsman, olympic athlete and student at the University of Alicante. "JJ.OO de Río. Recorrido y experiencia" ("Rio 2016 Olympics. My Story and Experience").

Raúl Reina Vaíllo. Lecturer at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, and research staff at the UMH Research Sports Centre, as well as the Director at the UMH Student Support Centre.

FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE FREE - TIMELY REGISTRATION NEEDED

REGISTRATION FOR 3X3 TOURNAMENTS

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - 3x3 Football Tournament

Place: Square in front of the UA Sports Centre (Olympic Square).

UA Sports Service.

All students within the university community can participate.

A 16x8m inflatable football field will be installed in the square in front of the UA Sports Centre.

Spots will be granted in strict order of registration.

The tournament system will depend on the number of registrations. Rules will be shown on the website.

All participants will be gifted with a UA's t-shirt, and medals for winners and runners-up.

Schedule

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. - 3x3 Basketball Tournament

Place: Outdoor Basketball Pitch, in front of the UA Sports Centre.

UA Sports Service.

All students within the university community can participate.

Spots will be granted in strict order of registration.

The tournament system will depend on the number of registrations. Rules will be shown on the website.

All participants will be gifted with:

- A UA's t-shirt.

- Medals for winners and runners-up.

- An entrance for the party of the HLA Lucentum vs Soliss Alcázar Basket (9 April, 12.15 p.m., Pavilion Pedro Ferrándiz). Through this party, the University of Alicante, jointly with the Foundation Lucentum and the Foundation Gipsy Secretariat, commemorates the International Day of the Gipsy People promoting values of social peace, convivencia and intercultural respect.

Schedule

A three-point contest will also take place. Students can register during the tournament's day.

 

REGISTRATION FOR ADAPTED DIVING, BOCCIA, SLALOM, ADAPTED DANCE, GOALBALL AND LATIN DANCE WORKSHOP

  • Via the Campus Virtual (Sports >> Sign in >> Nueva inscripción >> Actividades área promoción deportiva)
  • Deadline: from 27/02 to 31/03. If spots are not filled by people with functional diversity, the deadline will be extented to 31/03, except for Slalom
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Adapted Diving

Place: Swimming Pool. UA Sports Centre

ASUA (University of Alicante Underwater Activities).

Description: A serie of underwater activities, free diving or with aqualung, done by people with functional diversity with some adaptations either in material or technics and logistics in order that they will be able to dive.

All students within the university community with functional diversity can participate.

Maximum number of participants: 10 per shift (11 a.m. to noon - noon to 1 p.m.).

All participants will be gifted with a UA's t-shirt.

11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Boccia and Slalom

Place: UA Tennis Court 1.

Empleoaspe.disc Club Deportivo.

Boccia is a game designed to be played by people with functional diversity. It is inspired by the Italian origin bocce or bocci, from the name is taken, and it is an accepted Paralympic Sport since 1984.

All students within the university community can participate.

Maximum number of participants: 20.

Slalom is a sport that can be practised by people with cerebral palsy. Participants with a wheelchair must pass a serie of certain obstacles as cones, ramps, and other in as short time as possible across a hard flat-surface circuit. The circuit also consists of 360º pirouettes and zig-zag fast movements in order that participants will be focused. Three races will take place: single elimination, team elimination, and time-trial race.

All students within the university community with functional diversity can participate.

Maximum number of participants: 20.

All participants will be gifted with a UA's t-shirt.

11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. - Adapted Dance

Place: Aerobics room. UA Sports Centre

Academia Royal Dance.

Adapted dance is focused on people with physical, social, emotional or cognitive problems, and tries to stimulate them, ease the muscle tension and become aware of how feelings can affect muscles, striking a balance between mind, body, and feelings.

All students within the university community with functional diversity can participate.

Maximum number of participants: 10.

All participants will be gifted with a UA's t-shirt.

Noon to 2 p.m. - Goalball

Place: Main court. UA Sports Centre

Empleoaspe.disc Club Deportivo.

Goalball is the only Paralympic sport designed specifically for blind or visually impaired athletes. There are two teams of three players. The game is mainly based on the sense of hearing to judge the position and movement of a ball that has bells embedded in. Therefore, this sport requires a great capacity of spatial orientation in order to block the ball, place themselves strategically on the court, and throw it. It is important to know that players wear opaque eyepatches with the purpose to make equal their lack of visibility. 

All students within the university community with functional diversity can participate.

Maximum number of participants: 20.

All participants will be gifted with a UA's t-shirt.

12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m. - Latin Dance Workshop

Place: Aerobics room. UA Sports Centre

Academia Royal Dance.

Latin dances are ball dancing and there are severe types. Their main feature is that are social dacing, so we can move them from classes into the dancefloor. One of their main objectives is to have fun, meet people, enjoy, and relax either mentally or physically.

It is an open day, so it is organised for either the university community or external users.

Maximum number of participants: 40.

All participants will be gifted with a UA's t-shirt.
