FIRST INTER-UNIVERSITY GOALBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - VALENCIAN REGION

Last Saturday 28 March, the University of Valencia hosted the first Inter-University Goalball Championship in the Valencian Region, with three participants, the universities of Alicante, Miguel Hernández and Valencia.

Goalball is the only paralympic sport specifically designed for blind and partially sighted people. There are two three-player teams. Players rely mainly on hearing in order to know the trajectory of the ball (which contains noise bells), and they also need high spatial ability to always be in the right place at the right time, so as to intercept the ball or throw it with one hand and score a goal.

    UA teams' results

First place: Alejandro Miravalles, Luis Ruiz, Julián Gandía, and Iván Camaño (men's)

Second place: Belén Martín, Claudia Ernica, Laura Gumbao, and Mireya Navarro (women's)
