Today, the University of Alicante has hosted an event to support the elimination of homophobia in sport. During the event, a document was read and sealed whereby our institution joined the La Liga Arcoíris initiative and UA team members posed wearing captain armbands with the colours of the rainbow.
The Office of the Vice President for Culture, Sports and Languages, in an effort to support activities that contribute to the university community's comprehensive education, launches a call for applications. The goal of this call, aimed at non-UA companies, is to help fund activities held during 2020 that promote culture, sports and languages.
Starting this week, all teams within the University of Alicante's Federated Sports Section have a new name and logo/crest. Launched by the Office of the Vice President for Culture, Sport and Languages, this initiative establishes a single official name, which from now on will be “Universitat d’Alacant” for all teams.
Juan Miguel Gómez, coach of the University of Alicante taekwondo teams for seven seasons, has led many of our taekwondo practitioners to success, including María José Alfocea (runner-up in Spain's club championship), Antonio Aparicio (twice national para-taekwondo champion) or José Tomás (silver medal in the U21 regional championship).
